Numb and Blind (Father's Day)

by Pain Remains   Jun 17, 2007

Maybe I should be over it,
But it's taken over my mind,
The day god took you away,
I became numb and blind,

I could no longer feel happiness,
Or see laughter of the passing years,
Time didn't heal me,
If anything I got worse,

And now that awful day has come,
The day I used to love,
Instead of giving you a present,
I'm sending you a hug,

I see everyone shopping for there cards,
It breaks my heart in two,
Because I wish I could buy a card,
And be able to give it to you,

Not place it on the mantle piece,
Or leave on your grave,
Not walk out of the shop empty handed,
Not crying-trying to be brave,

But these things I can never change,
And so the tears will fall,
So instead I will think of you each day,
Until I hear god's final call.
