Long ago

by Shalkan   Jun 17, 2007

Ancient ruins, and worlds long past,
memories and shadows are all that last.
powerful lords, dead as the dust,
are lost forever, such as they must.

wandering through forgotten lands,
thousands of years, engulfed in sand.
swallowed up so long ago,
captured forever, so far below.

slender fingers bring back to life,
a long-lost world, wanting light.
release the prisoners of the sun,
the old gods, and the chosen one.

so short was the glory, so long the wait,
the song so sad, it came so late.
the silver locks return to rust,
the broken bones return to dust.

the song whispers so quiet today,
high in the mountains, i cannot say.
a long low melody, sad in it's lies,
grows quiet as the old world dies
