A Sad Songs Says So Much

by HOLLYWOODxBANGBANG   Jun 18, 2007

Driving down the black top; your eyes on the road,
A sad song came on the radio; playing nice and slow,
My fingers were entwined in yours; a smile on my face,
I turned and said: "I love you" As my heart started to race.

Smiling, you gripped the wheel tight and then you said:
"I love you too," as your cheeks slowly turned red,
And you sang along to the song as you looked to me,
You shouted: "This is what our song can be!"

And out on our spot; overlooking the sleepy town,
You kissed me like you meant it; laying me down,
My voice was shaking; fear was running in my eyes,
And I quivered as you ran your hand up my thigh.

We didn't notice the time on the clock; it was late -
Around one AM and I had to be home at eight,
You took me home and kissed me good night,
And I watched you speed away under the moonlight.

An hour later; I opened the door to two men in blue,
With tears in their eyes, one said: "This is for you,"
I took the box as they turned and walked away,
Handing me your belongings from earlier that day.

Later; they sat me down and said: "He took a curb too fast,
Lost control of his car; when we found him, he was past."
I pulled my hair; tears streamed through my eyes,
As I yelled: "That didn't happen; it's all a bunch of lies!"

But on top of the wooden casket is a picture of you,
Flawless with your quirky smile and eyes of blue,
As tears flow from my eyes; I yearn for one last touch,
But who ever knew that a sad song says so much.
