Why do we hide?

There's only this,

there's only us
and were not giving in to the sweet temptation
of feelings that we can't hide from each other
or ourselves
so why do we try to deny our hearts
and bodies
when its so clear what we're thinking
why do we hide from our sweetest desires?
why do we hide from what we want
more than anything else in the world
