Just a Little Longer Baby

by Paige   Jun 18, 2007

My mascara may be smeared, and my clothes may be worn
My face may be flushed, and my hands may be trembling.
But I'm still going strong.
I guess I can take another blow to the heart
Will this one be the one that kills me?
Of course not, momma taught me how to fight.

Please stay for a little while longer.
I want to flood my mind with more memories of us.
Please stay for a little while longer.

Drinking away your memory, just a little more to ease the pain, helps kill the loneliness.
"How can you be so loose with your heart?" I was once
"Sometimes the storm that was raging was never as bad as it seemed." was all I could say.
I like to think I'm good at taking a knife in the heart, but it hurts more and more each time it happens.
So please, let me just ask you once again.

Please stay for a little while longer.
I want to flood my mind with more memories of us.
Please stay for a little while longer.

I know you're leaving, and I know I'm asking for a lot.
You say you can't live on hope anymore, that's what got you in this position in the first place.
But please, put everything you've got, everything you've got left on me.
I'll take good care of you, I'll make sure no one hurts you, I'd never leave, I'd never make you something you aren't.

I'll catch you when you fall
I'll light a candle for you in the dark
I'll be the glue that holds you together forever.

So please stay for a little while longer
I want to flood my mind with more memories of us
Please stay for a little while longer
Just a little longer.
