Pain of Love

by Allison   Jun 18, 2007

Thwack, thwack, thwack
Hands beat her bare skin raw
Friends reach out to help
But her cold heart won't thaw

Bruises soon appear
Black, blue, and gray
Rising swiftly to the surface
Dreary day after dreary day

Doesn't she see him
For what he truly is?
He pulls her from her friends
Claims that she is only his

She is not an item
She can not be owned
Yet she sits back
Letting her love be honed

Her precious skin is broken
Her lovely heart is cracked
The emotional wound deepens
With every crushing thwack

Now she is a cutter
Hides pills under her bed
Blood is thick with sadness
She wishes she were dead

One night the pain grows deep
So deep it can't be stood
She reaches for the friendly blade
And wonders if she should

One cut, the pain dulls
Two cuts, her heart is free
Three cuts, a sweet release
Four cuts, pure ecstasy

Her friends look on sadly
All her pain they've known
Nothing could be done
To much hurt had grown

Lashing out hastily
A tale told by her wrists
Death had embraced her soul
Peace was her only wish

This girl that you're talking about has went through being abused by the one person she really trusted and loved so much.. but she wouldn't leave him, basicly because she can't face it.. she beleives him when he says he's sorry, and it won't happen again.
I really loved your poem, it expressed being abused in a very good way.. all the feelings, hurt and anger. I also loved your choice of words, simply amazing..
