Shadow On A Blacktop

by lost   Jun 18, 2007

Standing out side, as the rain starts to fall
Falling to my knees as I begin to cry aloud
Wishing I could go back, take it back
I've realized I made a mistake
My God I'm giving up everything
Just to make sure I change

Standing out side as the tears begin to fall
I've walked this road for many years
Without so much of a second thought
For turning around and changing it all
But now that I have you don't even notice
Your eyes seeing only the past not willing to move on

I walk with many others down this road
Yet walking by myself all in the same moment
Putting on that fake, the one you love to see
Just so you'll be happy
Because It's no longer about what I feel
What I want, but it's now about you
And how your completely oblivious
Your taking me and teaching me
Nothing but a new kind of shame

Standing out side as you start to walk up
I turn and hide my face I don't want you to see
Wiping my eyes and hiding the pain
You walk up behind me and tap me on my shoulder
I turn around and you see nothing
I've pushed it so far down
I'm nothing more than a shadow underneath your feet
With nothing but a lie for a face
