Three years ago I had a doggy
With furry, floppy ears
And a waggling tail
With him I shed no tears.
Three years ago I had a doggy
His name was Jonah
He'd touch my hand with his black, wet nose
When I was being a loner.
Three years ago I had a doggy
But then my doggy died
I was shopping with my birthday money when I found out
And oh! how much I cried.
Three years ago I had a doggy
But then he passed away
I miss his bark, floppy ears and wet nose
And how we'd walk and play.
It was raining some months after
And bright colors appeared in the sky and began to glow
"Look, James" I whispered
"I bet Jonah's running up the rainbow."
Three years ago I had a doggy
But now he's gone
He's watching me from heaven's clouds
His spirit has moved on.
