Bridge of Reason, Shore of Faith

by dollwithafrown   Jun 19, 2007

The golden bridge stands directly above the water.
Waves splash around fiercely, flooding the sand,
And the instant memory that I receive while standing here,
Is of the first time you and I walked this bridge hand in hand.

Do you remember it? I do, just like it was yesterday:
You gave me the reason you had for leaving, while I cried.
Listening to you, my entire world fell apart in a second;
I realised any faith I once had in a perfect life, was all a lie.

I called this bridge, "The Bridge of Reason",
Yet that doesn't fit, it just seems too wrong.
The waters below me: "The Shore of Faith".
No, that description did no longer belong.

This bridge will soon collapse and die,
Similar to the glorious love we could never hide,
And that shore is nothing but filthy waters
Where horrid pasts are left drowned by the tide.

    This poem is absolutely amazing in every single way, the word choice was excellent and so was the flow. The best part about the poem is those who read it will all have a different idea of what it really mean. We all will one day have to cross the bridge of reason atleast once, in order to see the shore of faith. Amazing write 5/5 GG23
