Lost and Found

Lost

Can you see her downtrodden, scarred soul?
Impaled by the black thorns of the wilted rose
That bloomed beneath his once loving hands?

Can you see that single crystal tear, frozen to her pale cheeks?
There is a trickle of despair threaded in her being now
Where only love was once embroidered

Can you hear the hollowness in her now unbeating heart?
Sodden, drowned in a pool of her shimmering tears?
Can you feel her loneliness?

Can you see her Cinderella heart, fragile as that fabled slipper?
Shattered below her on the cold, hard concrete,
Cutting her feet with razor-sharp edges?

Can you here the gypsys haunting song
Narrating her misery, this lack of love
Or hear her gently weeping?

Can't you see how she misses you?
How she's living a lie, pretending to hide?
How lost she is without you?
She still loves you.

Found

Can you feel her hatred, burning with the heat of a thousand suns?
At his pretty words, whispered, ensnaring her,
Sweet deadly venom to her overeager heart?

Can you see that single granite teat carve a path down her hardened cheeks?
There is a torrent of hate flowing through her being now
Where only love once gently flowed.

Can you hear her angry beating heart, burning
With the fire that came from his dark deception?
Her fury at her stupidity for believing in the word forever?

Can you see her Cinderella heart, delicate as that fabled slipper,
Fused once more by her white-hot fury?
Her feet have hardened against the razor-sharp edges

Can't you see she's over you, she no longer hurts?
How she no longer hides, listening to your lies
She finally found herself

She won't be played again.
