Reflections looking back at me

by Dawn Davis   Jun 20, 2007

We often loose sight of whom we are.
We wake each day like the one before;
Yet, we seem to forget what it is we search for..
Little by little we let go of ourselves,
To wake one day and forget...
this stranger within the mirror.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Visions of yesterdays breaking free,
an image of me ,
yet is it really what I see?
A moment frozen in reflection
I stand in silence,
responding with nothing..
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Ones self image wandering free,
someones looking back at me...
Dare I blink and lose what is being asked of me?
Or turn another direction and pretend I never seen.
This is I, telling me to believe...
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Tomorrow is full of lighted dreams,
I search for answers,
I'm given the key.
Patience I'm told,
walk quietly and you shall see,
the door to freedom is within reach if you only believe...
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
This journey I take on faith alone,
lighting a candle to guide me home...
I glance back once more as I exit the door,
a smile, a tear, a thought so clear..
Hello me, I've come to see,
the love I search for I find in me...

    I find the rhyming quite erratic, but you know what? It doesn't seem to matter that much. There's something very deliberate about the way it's written that means this fact doesn't really detract from the intention stated so clearly in that first line.
