A Hope, a Dream, and a Downpour

by Idiosyncratic   Jun 20, 2007

Eyelids close
A voice rasps
A startled calm
Broken by gasps

By candlelight
The hope may grow
Like counting rain
On a dampened pillow

Step by step
The thoughts withdraw
Like a burden waiting
On beck and call

The flames within
May slowly die
Weak, yet unbroken
By an unfed lie

The force of one
Is felt by more
Blood falls, tapping
On the dew-touched floor

Great poem..i loved the metaphors that you have hidden within your poem..it says a lot without saying much at all..the flow was really good as well...keep up the great work.

This poem was good! Well written, wonderful wording, and I could tell a lot of thought was put into it. It seemed a bit rough, at first, but other then that is was excellent
