Dead End

by Firdos   Jun 20, 2007

Bruised, beaten, tortured,
Unforgettable hatred,
Hurt physically and mentally,
Can’t forget and stop what you see,
Revenge pumping through your sight,
But too weak to fight.

Don’t worry, you’ll get away,
You’re not going to die here okay,
Says the voices in my ear,
There is no fear,
Except the fear for your family,
You’ll see them again some day.

Worked, starved, used,
Betrayed and then accused,
Is there any way out,
Would anyone hear me shout?
As you’ve been reading my words
I’ve planned my freedom with the birds.

I duck, I crawl, my friends by my side,
Now there’s no need to hide,
We found our tunnel-followed the light,
To see the bright moon, into the night,
Fresh air and freedom on my skin,
The soft wet grass across my shin.

OI! WHO GOES THERE?!
Have you ever felt pure fear?
I have, when I heard that Germans shriek,
No hiding place to seek,
I’d been caught and forever lost
And so its here I say goodbye…forever.

~dedicated to those who lost their lives due to the holocaust. hope you liked my poem and thankyou for reading
