Always Watched

She watched her child speak a while ago.
she heard the words that had no end.
she watched him fight the other day.
and prayed his tears could go away.

all this time she had waited and cried.
all this time she had helped and tried.
she sacrificed the things for him to grow.
all this was done for him and couldn't figure out why.

she watched him smile a couple of days ago.
she watched him sleep the other day.
and prayed that it would last all the time.
that peace that rested on his mind.
