On My Own

by Amy   Apr 22, 2004

Here i stand
alone on a beach
waves crashing
on the rocks, out of reach

The cold ocean breeze
salty spray from the sea
feeling alone
everything isolated from me

I wrap my arms around me
to keep myself warm
its so peaceful here
like the eye of a storm

The sand beneath my feet
the wind in my hair
the memories
of your intense, icy stare

I walk towards the water
deeper in i go
feeling the coldness
this is the end, i know

The waves begin
to crash over me
they knock me over
so i cannot see

The water surges
over my head
i cant breathe
so i surrender instead

I don't try
to swim to shore
these are my last moments
i know for sure

I see the light
it calls to me
i reach for it
its all i see

But suddenly
I'm pulled away
feel strong hands
but i don't want to stay

I open my eyes
and I'm lying on the sand
staring down at me
is a very concerned man

He touches my arm
and says every things okay
he doesn't understand
i wanted to leave today

A tear gently falls
from my eye
he whispers to me
i care about you, you cant die

I know who he is
all too soon
hes the reason
i accepted
this doom

I thought that i
was on my own
but he whispers to me
your not alone
