Familiar Story

by Steph   Jun 21, 2007

The too familiar story
that grows in strength with age
tugs at your heart, your mind, your soul
with the turn of every page.

Her heart is beating empty
just waiting to be filled.
The throbbing pulse of longing
is waiting to be stilled.

The stream of patience has run dry
and sliced her to the bone
There's nothing left here but to cry
she's so scared to be alone.

"Help" she cries in the dark of night
though she knows that no one hears.
She's given up the will to fight;
she drowns in her own tears.
