The Only Difference Between Heaven and Earth is Statistics

by HOLLYWOODxBANGBANG   Jun 22, 2007

The stars constructed a winding path,
For a child with blond curls and blue eyes,
So she tapped her feet along the edges -
Skipping across all of her parents lies.

And shards of the golden misconceptions fell,
As she flashed a bright smile to the world ahead,
Her arms wide open; as she giggled in awe,
Forgetting the words that her parents had said.

Silver buttons tied together the dress she wore,
As she carried a lunch box with her name,
And her black and blue cheeks; engraved with dimples -
Were a portrait of the misconstrued blame.

But with a safety pin; she fixed her broken heart,
And she jumped to and fro on top of the stars,
As her picture was printed in the local newspaper,
Becoming just another statistic of ours.

Holding her warm hand; I jumped along with her,
Playing like little children are meant to play,
And her glimmering eyes shone bright with colors,
As we danced through Heaven's dismay.

So heartbreaking. You have that ability to always touch a nerve in your poetry. They are never just poetic words, they always spell out a story and have a just meaning behind each and every write. Lifes occurences and consequences of such are troubling and you have penned it well. Dancing in heaven and finally being the child she missed out on being in this earth filled with wrong. Sad but beautiful.
