Lost Names

by Anthony   Jun 22, 2007

We will not return from were we came.
No turning back.
We are here to be struck down by the armies of other men.

Mindless soldiers, not quite sure what there fighting for.
Just doing as they're told
There minds dissolving, becoming one.
None are there own.
The soldiers fight, their mission not quite clear but stern.

He lies in the cool mud and grass.
The red river flows till dry.
The name sinks into the mud mixing with the river, till dry
Unknown but loved, hated, & missed.

I think this is ok, it definitely has great potential. couple of things, it's 'their' not 'there' in the beginning few lines. i'd try not to repeat the til dry, as is disrupts the flow. very good last line, very strong to match the beginning.
