World of Freedom (Mr. President)

by Rachel   Jun 23, 2007

The soft noise of the cars outside my window
at 4 AM is just enough to keep me awake.
The light of the distant moon
shines down on the beautiful sadness
that surrounds me.
The burning candle is melting away the tension in my heart.
But I can still feel the ache inside.
The leaves on the trees are moving slightly
by the gentle summer wind.
Rain washes away any signs of thought in my mind,
and I am left wondering what's become of the world.
So much sacrificing and suffering,
and not enough giving and happiness.
In a world of living in freedom,
so many people are living in loneliness.
Mr. President, how can you let this happen?
By putting one person in charge os making these important decisions,
that has only created more people fighting just to hold on.
Mr. President, are you worth listening to?
Are you worth my time?
Are you worth anyone's time?
You are living proof that not everything is what it seems,
because you are not what you said you would be.
The light of the moon in the night sky
Shines down on this beautiful sadness, that is the world.

"You are living proof that not everything is what it seems,
because you are not what you said you would be."

This was a beautifully penned poem, yet at the same time so sadly true. The problem with the world is that promises are made, but not carried out. We abuse the freedom we hold. A poignant write!

    Take care.
