Regretful Desire

As I try to convince myself that I don't need you,
It becomes more painful than when I was trying to get you.

when people make a comment,
I force myself to say that I am over this,
I am over the pain and agony,
I am over you,

With much regret,
I admit that as the days pass by these words become easier and easier to say,

I still think about you and me,
Of what we could have been,
But now the clouds have cleared from my vision,
And I see the truth,

What could be,
Never will,
I regret my desire to forget you,
but none the less,
out of my heart you will soon fade,
