Domini Canto

by Sean Allen   Apr 22, 2004

O Muse!
Let the cup pass from me.
It has been commanded
That I eat of his flesh;
Drink of his blood.
The crowd, it surges forth;
It cannot stop
To hear the story.
O, it has finally come,
The light of life
Has finally faded.
Look, the glorious sunset;
The retreating horizon,
It flies from the Blasphemous night
O Muse!
The jealous moon watches
As a star falls from Heaven.
Horrendous is the bane
Of those who must try.
Open my mouth friend,
So I may scream.
I cannot bear to by myself.
The Fiery dawn;
Give me eyes,
So I may see it.
Blessed silence;
Give me ears,
So I may hear it.
O Muse!
The morning dew,
The Budding Roses;
Give me my lips,
Give me my nose,
So I may drink it,
And so I may smell it.
O Muse!
My Unfinished Work,
My Unanswered Question;
Give me my hands, my mind,
So I may complete it,
So I may answer it.
O Muse! O Muse!
To Humanity.
Lend it its soul,
So it may sing.
The chorus must go on.
The ode may not stop.
For why would flowers bloom,
If there is no one around
To smell them?
