How do I stop this racing
this beating of my heart
For one who I can't hold

How do I stop this gleam
this shining of my eyes
For one who I can't see

How do I stop this caress
this reaching of my hand
For one who I can't touch

How do I stop this tremble
this betrayal of my body
For one who I can't have

How do I stop this encircling
this reading of my soul
Of one who I adore

Life's whip has lashed
at me once more
