When I Look At You

by Nathan Turner   Jun 29, 2007

When I look at your picture I start to cry
Then I ask myself questions like why?
Why did I lie and hurt you
When I promised you my words would be true

I thought I loved you, no, I knew I loved you
Then when I ended it you said it too
I was shocked
I was emotionally rocked

I feel haunted by your memory
It wasn't my fault our love ran out like a battery
I feel ashamed when I look in your eyes
Because I know what I told you were hurtful lies

It is amazing how much emotion you are able to get into your poems like that i am truly amazed you have a gift and there is no doubting that

This is really good too because it seems very raw...you know, heartfelt. Like you just wrote it as you felt it. That was a good way to go with this poem. Good job!

"It wasn't my fault our love ran out like a battery"
    Great line ^.
I also liked the "emotionally rocked" thing, too.
Good poem, I can relate well.
We all learn lies get us nowhere.

    Take care,
