August Blaze

by xoxShorteexox   Jun 30, 2007

As a dread August night sky fell upon the moon,
the reds of fires started to show up the stars above,
the blaze took over half our lovely forest of wild trees,
as half was just burned to the ground and some still standing.

Our hearts were broken at the first of blacken tree limbs,
the scene almost crushed all my memories of walking in the forest,
all the different pinks and yellows of the summer flowers were gone,
and all my childhood memories seemed to slip away from me.

Still in completely disbelief; one kid started the blaze of fire,
that took over more than thousand acres of pure green trees,
the once fifty feet trees gone; only ashes remain in their place,
all these flowers, trees and creatures are all just ashes.

As this August night sky seemed to hold so much hate,
my heart weeped a song of sadness that only my ears heard,
the boy only got a fine for all this damage; only a fine,
he stole my childhood memories; my one true home.

My days of dancing through the woods and singing with the birds ruined,
my nights of sitting in the trees and staring at the stars over with completely,
in one night; one blaze of fire, my childhood was ripped and torn to pieces,
my every feeling of safety and happiness crushed at the scene of it all.

This August blaze made me lose every feeling besides sadness and hatred,
one stupid kid killed everything in a forest of more than a thousand acres,
one matchbox killed it all; burning down every tree, plant and animal in sight,
may his punishment take away more than it's every taken from my memories.

I always enjoy coming to the nature section of this site. The poems here seem to be above the rest in most cases. I read your poem and found it quite interesting. Nice words and good flow kept my attention. I look forward to reading more of your works to see what appears when they are turned over.
