Sparkling Knife

Sparkling Knife

To the kitchen I journey,
5 shining knives I see
To myself I wonder,
"Which one is for me?"

I stretch out my shaking hand,
And reach for that sparkling one
It caught my eye,
The way it shined like the sun

Back in the bathroom,
I'm sitting next to the sink,
I'm looking into the mirror
And watching every blink

The sparkling knife catches my eye
I try to look away
But it's too much,
My eyes will not stray

My eyes dart back and forth,
From knife to wrist,
Knife to wrist,
It's a repeating list

So much confusion,
Between my head and my heart
This knife is the answer,
To a fresh start

Gently I glide it over my wrist,
Leaving a pale red line behind
No blood yet,
But it's soothing my mind

Again, I glide the knife over my wrist,
This time not so gentle
I feel the trickle of blood,
Some would say I'm mental

Oh, what a relief
It feels so damn good
Knife, you have done me a favour,
Thank you, I should
