Always lost, never redeemed

by Valiantpenguin   Jul 1, 2007

Angels have bent to take my hand
to lead me through the fights
to be the long awaited answer
to a harsh and painful truth

and i tell you true i try my best
but somewhere along the way
i always seem to get caught up
in all there is to offer
and the cost is so much more than I can bear

though i try i fall
i always sink so low
i always mess up
i think its best you know
just please don't come around here
and tell me I told you so
like everyone before

we always go in with good intentions
when love is raw and young
we believe that we can change someone
when we can't even change ourselves
and we think the past can be undone

but what we don't seem to see
is we carry all our burdens
how ever heavy they may be
and time always reveals
the lonely ways of morning light
the wound that never seems to heal
and comes with the bitter taste
of losing everything that you hold so dear

heaven bent to take my hand
when there was nowhere left to turn
and I'm lost to those I thought were friends
and to everyone I know
they turned their heads embarrassed
and they all pretend that they don't see
but they miss one important step every time
and fall right off their feet
they slip before they know it
and they lay there on the ground
searching for a savior
but there's never a way to be redeemed
