Prisoner Of War

by Dan Bloom   Jul 1, 2007

One victory broke him.
A man came, tore him to pieces, then let him in entrapment over death

He put on wings,
They ripped them off and gave him suffering.
Angels watch him fall eternally.
Hope is lost forever
Hope for the prisoner is gone.

It never ends and the light will always be out of his grasps.
They broke his soul and people watched, mourned, cared, loved him,
but saw his flaws layed out upon them...

and they laughed as they witnessed his most sensitive nerves get crushed and forked by torment unimaginable and never witnessed before.

They laughed...
They laughed as he wept...
They laugh as he weeps... forever

This poem looked neglected... I really liked it though. It was different in it's form, but the story within it was portrayed really well. My favorite lines were

    "He put on wings,
They ripped them off and gave him suffering.
    Angels watch him fall eternally."

I use a lot of wing metaphors in my writing, so it struck me... It brings back a lot of old memories... Oh well... I really like your writing and I love reading it!

    5/5
