Why do people get killed?
Murdered by greed and lust

Why do people go hungry?
No beds, asleep in the dust

Why are babies born dead?
Made limp by the absence of life

Why are there alcoholics?
Drinking in the sorrows and strife

Why don't we care?
Selfish, in our own little box

Why do we waste precious time?
Complaining through the ticks and tocks

Why is our world going to hell?
War, hate, and a nuclear ending

Why don't we change?
To help the helpless, mending

Why aren't we thankful?
For the beauty we are destroying
