Weeping Willow

Weeping Willow

She stands there in the darkness,
Standing all alone,
Swaying in the gentle wind,
Standing where she's grown.

Standing by the river,
Her fingers touch the ground,
In her life she has not moved,
By her roots she's bound.

Her slender limbs are shaking,
The sobs are uncontrolled,
No one knows her sorrows,
They pass right by untold.

In the gentle moonlight,
Her tears run to the stream,
The sadness overwhelms her,
The weeper wants to scream.

Standing by her closest friend,
The willow listens on,
The willow's old the weeper's young,
They stand there right to dawn.

They stand there in the darkness,
The two are all alone,
Willow's bent with sadness,
Standing here she's grown.

The willow shares the sadness,
That the weeper's shed,
Absorbing it so her back is bent,
So the weeper might live instead.
