GRAY

by Grey Ajurahck   Jul 2, 2007

My dreams have faded
day after day leaving only
a faint image of a thought
once cherished.

Finally hope has waned
leaving dark emptiness
and a bitter resignation
of a mere existence in a
nowhere life.

I raise my eyes and
stare out the lonely window;
outside it is raining,
all is gray,

and it should be.

    Aaah this is incredibly glum, so very heartbreaking. I could feel this word for word. The opening stanza is perfect, it really set the mood for the entire poem. The second stanza is full of anger (lost hope), but in a welcoming sort of way. Almost as if accepting defeat. It's absolutely heart-rending. And the third stanza really closed the poem just beautifully. Great last line!

    Awesome work!
