AFTER THE RAIN

by Gary Jurechka   Jul 3, 2007

The clouds are a shroud
draped softly over me,
the rain cleanses my soul,
a sweet melancholy milieu
washing through me,
filling my heart, cradling my mind,
seeking solace in the storm,
purifying the obscure thoughts
and returning me to myself.

After the rain,
these gray eyes
see with fresh clarity
and realize
that sanctuary,
that salvation,
that this feeling,
that this moment,
is the rainbow
of life itself.

    these gray eyes
    see with fresh clarity
    and realize

    is the rainbow
    of life itself.
