A Thousand Steps

by HOLLYWOODxBANGBANG   Jul 3, 2007

This flickering motel sign; is flashing in my tortured eyes -
And they say it will do me good; being away from all your lies,
But this lonely bottle; whispering me sweet nothings,
Are nothing to the words that you used to sweetly sing.

And my arm out this window; throwing away all the pictures -
Setting our love to the wind; won't erase the words you slurred,
Telling me you love me; but you love her just a little more,
As you stood crying with my bags already packed up by the door.

These white lines; dotting out the path that I'm bound for,
Are leading me to a life that I've never been in before,
And my friends tell me it will be worth it to get away from you,
But without you here in my arms; I don't know what to do.

A thousand steps away and breaking down from heart to toe -
Because you turned into a man that I just don't want to know,
But Baby, when the lights are down and the intimacy is through,
Do you think she will ever be able to love you the way that I do?
