Streetlight Contagious

by hippiehxc   Jul 3, 2007

Walking home from the party you find it in yourself to try to explain your deceitfulness.
Why you were with that girl, after I warned you about her so many times, I have no idea.
I just had higher expectations.
But unfortunately they came crashing down at the sight of your ice cold fingertips tracing her hair and your alcohol kissed lips entwined with hers.
It's a shame what selfishness can do to a beautiful boy, such as yourself.
I've never even believed the sweet toxin that you ingested to be an excuse.
Well, my dear, I'm sorry that I had to ruin your time and catch you when you were making your move.
It's a shame that you couldn't get that pretty girl in bed with you.
I guess she saw what you are, too.
It's kind of hard to miss. You can't See it, but we do.
I hate to say that it took me so long to realize what you really are.
It's shameful, to say the least.
If I had just thought about this all sooner, I would have seen that you are just a simple boy, with nothing left to do but prove to himself that he's unique.
I'm sorry, but that won't happen.
You're just like the rest that every girl has encountered at least once.
Come on strong and give her just what she's looking for and then douse her hopes by trying to play matchmaker with the girls around her and the thing in your pants.
Sexual innuendos are not something that are appreciated among the girls of higher class.
It's pathetic that you can't find at least one girl to suit you.
You could have had everything in a split second, but you threw it all away with no second glances.
So now we're walking home, under the impression that we're in love.
That toxin is still on your lips, I can tell.
It's impairing your judgment, darling, this isn't love.
So take me in your arms and hold me one last time.
Try to see if there's something there.
There's not.
But you still have the mind of a foolish boy, just as you always have.
So just lean down and whisper that you love me.
But don't be disappointed, 'Cause baby, the word means nothing coming from you.
It's just a disease that happens to be streetlight contagious.

I still love your writing, Grace.
It amazes me more and more, sweetie.
    Sophisticated, yes she is, Mo.
Anyway, take care of yourself, love.

This was amazing! I seriously loved the way that you used such powerful words but you also used them so calmly like you knew this was going to happen all along and although you're disappointed, you're not surprised. Its a very good piece. VERY sophisticated for someone your age!!!!
