Happy homes in America

by Chelsey   Jul 3, 2007

I used to have it made when I was a young tiny tot
At least growing up thats what I thought
As time had passed, turns out not
All these family memories were starting to rot

Daddy was now the reason mom always cried
My brothers mom in another state he was starting to get sick of the ride
I felt the love in my family had almost died
The strings that held us together were becoming untied

My pillow held so many hurting and devastated tears
But we always made the best of all the years
We had disappointments and lots of cheers
A happy family is the way we always tried to appear

Now realization hit me and I start to understand
There will never be a happy family on America's land
Mothers have become abusive and use a hard hand
Dads leave their family if they don't get what they command

And I wonder what our forefathers think up there
I'm sure this is not the type of nation they wanted to share
They have to be disappointed that American people seem not to care
So now I turn to God with my meaningful prayer

"Since dear Lord, I seem to be the only one with a caring heart
Tell me what to do and how do I start
I don't want to see my nation fall apart
It has gone too far and its time to be smart"

I will make sure my children are trained
I will raise them with the type of brain
To love all ye people, even if they are insane
And when they ask why, I will be sure to explain

American house holds have fallen to shreds
Drownings, murders, suffocations caused family's to be dead
Godly advice is what my kids will be fed
Because God wants our family's to learn to love instead

So here I am with this poem, proving to you all
There is someone who cares for your family's aches, pains, and falls
And my voice will be heard even if it seems small
Because in American homes, love is what I'll install

Sometimes all it takes is a small voice. Remember David and Golliath.
    Excellent job!
