Eternal Ember

by Daisy if you do   Jul 4, 2007

Hast thy love for me you weep
Lost in slumber sleeping deep
Midnight hour will come a falling
Deaths promise shall be calling

For my widowed heart you kept
When nightfall creeped you crept
Forevermore my souls surrender
Burns a flame to light the ember

    "Deaths promise shall be calling"

This line really stood out to me. When you think about it, only two things are promised to us in life, life itself and death. A chilling poem, short but I loved it.
