The Captain's Daughter

by Mo   Jul 4, 2007

Long ago in darker times a ship was named the Bounty
Its men had hardened calloused hearts, having been lost to the sea
and under the black flag of David it would sail through troubled waters
and the only true love of David, was a murdered Captain's daughter

The bloody deck was glistening that night, when the Captain died
His only seed, a fair maiden, stood tall and never cried
The tempered heart of David stilled, her dear father she adored
Died upon that bloody deck, a victim of David's sword

The quickened beat, a long lost friend he never thought he'd feel
"A heart does beat within me, and my heart you will now steal!"
The Captain's daughter, pale and cold, under the spray of waves
Stole his heart and walked the plank, to her watery grave

To this day, though years on, David walks that bloody deck
Oblivious to crashing waves towering over his ship's wreck
His heart and love have disappeared beneath the water's surface
And his spirit is trapped with his ship, for love it was his curse

A story told through a poem. I saw one tiny bit of spelling error. You might want to check it out. Mystery, to my perception, is a perfect element of a story. Liked it, great job.

Yeah I know this isn't very clear at the moment - I meant to write at the end of it that it wasn't finished... I need to add in another two stanzas... to explain the story better - but had to get it written down before I forgot it! :) Thanks.

Very interesting poem, I enjoyed in it.
Rhyming of this piece is good, and the choice of words, but I didn't quite understood its story. (Why did David killed the captain?)
Anyway, the poem is good, and I'm giving you 5/5
