Dear Death,

by RunningOnEmpty   Jul 4, 2007

Dear Death...

Of you, I'm not afraid.
I'm not afraid to slip away.
Just shut my door, I do not care.
I'm not afraid, just take me there...

Do not think I'll give you fear,
Don't think I'll die, I'll live on here
My words on paper, from my pen;
I'll never die.
It won't happen.

As long as I am not forgotten,
I can find the strength somehow;
to face my fate, Death, One-On-One,
and end just like I had begun.

Like all who came before me,
and just like all who haven't came,
I'll take my Destiny with pleasure,
knowing They'll still know my name.

When reading poems, many people tend to ask who 'They' or 'Them' is. Well, as a generalization, most people tend to point towards the worldwide human race. So in this case, it could be read as "Knowing The World Will Still Know My Name".

Thanks for reading,
