The Works

by BeautifulGwen   Jul 5, 2007

Wet grass
damp legs
cool air
warm breeze

Sparklers twirling
mind whirring
holding breath
can't wait

The air turns still
children stop
parents beckon
hold them close

Sizzling streak
screaming air
huge bang
and smiles form

The streaming lights
the great sight
of rainbow bursts
and beating hearts

From the beautiful scene
the strange array
of bright lights
and beautiful designs

The sound lessens
the sparks fall
and all what's left is
the smell of smoke
and laughter and the
joy of innocence

Lovely. I love you you started on the first stanza. (Okay, sounds kinda silly but what I mean is I love how your first stanza is worded.) And the way you ended the poem with "Joy of innocence" is fanominal. This could be a real hit in about 50 years(considering Chaucer and Tennyson didn't even get to see their work become popular when they were alive.)^_^
