Broken Pieces

by Jax x lyn   Jul 5, 2007

A beating heart once whole
Is now scattered in numerous bits
Sprinkled throughout the heavens,
The memory of him still persists.

A stream of hot, salty liquid
Makes its way down her cheek,
Her eyes blink into the fading sun,
Her flesh and mind are so weak.

She knew only too well,
That love had taken its toll,
It had ripped apart her heart,
Sparing not her broken soul.

His voice still rings in her ears,
Clear, energetic yet so very sad.
He knew not of his treachery,
Oblivious to what he could have had.

She had never been able to tell him
Of the feelings she desperately hid,
Fearing not only what he would sense,
But of the rejection and shun he might bid.

Because she had secretly veiled
Her emotions so confined and true,
He hadnt thought twice about it,
And jealously pierced her through.

Another girl, another cheerful smile
Had made their way into his mind,
For her only were his love and thought,
To everything else he was undeniably blind.

The healing would soon come,
But too long it seemed to wait,
Tears flowed heavily and silent,
An evident sign of her pain so great.

Though he didnt realize,
He had torn something precious apart,
And so she continued to keep to herself,
Gathering the pieces of her broken heart.

I think that was near flawless . An over-written about subject, but you wrote about it beautifully - I feel .

He knew not of his treachery,
Oblivious to what he could have had.
    `I loved those lines, truly . I don't know why x)

The first stanza was my favourite, and the way you ended, I feel was absolutely great . The flow at a couple of points got rocky, but went right back on point . The rhymes were nicely chosen, and it just rocked ;D

    Nicely done, dear .
