Since you have been gone

by pandora   Jul 5, 2007

Since you've been gone
Life has sped by
I have loved twice
once terribly
the other time terribly as well
I have crashed and burned and picked myself up
I went down to Georgia met the devil on the mountain top
faced death, faced ruin, faced disappointment

Since you've been gone
I have begun to trust my own instincts
do not question what I want
I try to grab it when it is presented to me
I do not talk myself out of doing something
I talk myself into doing something
I have begun to enjoy life
smiled more than cried
The sun has been out more than behind the clouds

I miss you still,
in spite of myself,
in spite of good sense,
in spite of everything.

Since you've been gone

The blood of a poets broken heart shows up well on the white page with words that show the cracks and depths of that wounded heart. Keep up the good works.

Wow, this is another breath- taking, amazing peace. The first stanza is my favorite. You are great poet, and all of your poems are really great.

This has almost a song quality to it. Very well written, it starts out with pain and sadness and the second stanze has more optimsm, hope. Excellent poem.
