Tell me what you see

In a hallway or on the streets
tell me what you see?
thousands of happy smiling people..
or people just like me?

The ones that shy their eyes away
and smiles don't grace their lips
you can see the tears begging to fall
and the scars from a razor's kiss

Others with bruises so black and blue
you'd think they were dying
on the inside they are
screaming 'if only you knew'

Others with broken hearts
the blood on their sleeves
blackened tears aren't visible now
They only fall when everyone leaves

You see the little children
With a just mom or dad
their families have been ripped apart
and they don't understand

So much misery
and so much pain
People think they have nothing to lose
And everything to gain
If only they saw the world through our eyes
Just for one day
I know they wouldn't be the same..
