If I'm Not in Love [Double Triolet]

by Sweet Fragility   Jul 6, 2007

Every time we meet, these questions are in my mind --
If I'm not in love with you, why am I still fooling myself?
How did we last for so long, how could I be so blind?
Every time we meet, these questions are in my mind --
How can I be with you if you make me feel so confined?
If I don't want to hurt you, does that mean I should hurt myself?
Every time we meet, these questions are in my mind --
If I'm not in love with you, why am I still fooling myself?

Every time we meet, I am overcome with sadness for you,
For I no longer believe our destinies are intertwined.
Our love isn't mutual; your heart would break if you knew.
Every time we meet, I am overcome with sadness for you.
You still want me, even though I am ready for someone new.
I don't know how you will deal when I leave you behind.
Every time we meet, I am overcome with sadness for you,
For I no longer believe our destinies are intertwined.

A Triolet is a poetic form consisting of only 8 lines. Within a Triolet, the 1st, 4th, and 7th lines repeat, and the 2nd and 8th lines do as well. The rhyme scheme is simple: ABaAabAB, capital letters representing the repeated lines.

Another eloquent poem. (: Great example of a triolet. Heartbreaking, sincere, fluid, intriguing. A well penned and thought out piece. Lovely!
