In the shadows

Others would say our love is wrong,
But have they ever felt something so strong?,
People look and people stare,
Is ok to hold you? do they care?,
It burns me inside like a fire out of control,
Scars my being so deep into my soul,
It's a hate for them that consumes me,
For one day you and I will be,
Once time has past and our souls connect,
I can only then afford to be more direct,
So for now I remain silent and in the shadows,
Pretending not to notice you,
Hurting because I care,
Knowing you are hurting too,
We look for the day when we are shadows no more,
When our love can at last be seen and surely will soar,
Just know till then I love you with all my heart,
