When I Say I Love You

by Andrew Morton   Jul 6, 2007

Standing, patiently waiting
as the train starts to slow
you look over your shoulder
and see me wave at the window

you quickly make your exit
as you enter into my life
head held high with hopes
of one day being my wife

we head into the station
and you pull me out a chair
telling me the story
of your life over there

done with everything
you say you left it behind
that you couldnt take it
and were losing your mind

escaping such a pain
that i know all to well
i know whats its like
to be living in hell

your eyes swell up with tears
one sneaks down your face
should i pull you in closer
or give you you're space

you let your emotions spill
words too hard to swallow
if your heart'll take lead
ill be sure to follow

your head on my shoulders
your hand wrapped in mine
i cant help but remind you
of what you did find

i say that you've got me
that im not going anywhere
to forget about hurt,
pain and despair

the words that are speak
are everything and true
know that im not lying
when i say i love you
