Mirror Image

by LyricallyBroken   Jul 7, 2007

I look in the mirror
And who do I see
I see a stranger
Looking back at me

A girl with shorter hair than before
A blue Hollister tee
Mascara and hot pink lip gloss
Who I always wanted to be

She smiles, full of confidence
Brushing hair away
Texting her friends on her phone
Having an avergae day

But concealer does not hide all her flaws
Some for the public to see
But I keep asking the same question
Who is she?

Other flaws or hidden under the surface
Meant to stay there
Like her insecure and nervousness
About her clothes and hair

I look a little closer,
past the makeup and her face
and into the inside
at pasts she tried to erase

And then she looks familiar
And I know her very well
But behind the mask and image
It was just so hard to tell

She is me, but in museum form
Perfected for your view
I'm not the way I used to be
I'm somebody new
