Out in the field

by Travis   Jul 7, 2007

I sit out here,
Out in the field.
Thinking of life,
And what things are.

Like what happiness is,
What love is,
What a true friend is,
And what I really need.

I realize that we as humans,
Need but few things,
Included in those,
Are everyday things.

But something few people know,
Is that one thing that we need most,
Is gotten by so few of us on Earth,
Yet those above and below get it.

They get the Love and Respect,
People cry when loved ones die,
People are noticed more,
When they are dead.

Think of all the famous people,
Who passed away in the past.
And think of the future,
Of all their works.

They all live in their works,
Even today they are,
All because we only give needs,
To the departed...

You sound very much like me in this poem except you express feelings better than I can! I love this and thanks for the comment! 5/5

Your message is wonderful, but you have a few poetic errors I'd like to fix up.

"They get [take it out? the] Love and Respect,
People cry when loved ones die,
    People are noticed more,
When they are dead. [Re word the stanza]

Think of all the famous people,
    Who [have left this world].
    And think of the future,
Of all their works."[I don't know, it's just not as great as the rest of the poem.]
    [Maybe this...
Think of all those famous people,
Whose souls have left us here on Earth,
    And think of their works,
    Embeded into our future?]
[Here's a try on the other stanza...
Tears streak the cheeks of those
    Who lose their loved ones,
    They have taken for granted.

Only when the dead have left,
Do we realize what people deserve,
    What those around us deserve,
Love and Respect????--That wasn't too great...]

4.5/5. however, I cant give you that quite yet, so maybe I'll have to wait for you to get a 5 or a 4 to fix it.
