Let's take a walk
A walk to remember
to recall our past
the way things used to be
Look over there
The slide where you and I used to play
The jungle gym we climbed upon
The gazebo we sat under
on those scorching summer days
The tree we climbed daily, seems bigger now
The pond where we skipped rocks, full of algea
The old wooden bench near the water fountain
The place we caught our first little fish
The faded colors of a metal swingset
Chalk remains scattered on the ground
I remember how when we were yound and careless
we ran around these beaten paths
The sandbox where I got sand in my eyes and cried
And the weeping willow where our moms sat while we played
The blacktop where we played basketball
and you always beat me
The open field where we played tag
the tree that was base
that boulder over to the left
that we thought was the top of the world
The way things were
so simple, so innocent
I miss being young and stupid and careless
the memories aren't reality
they're just a reminder of how it was
