Once Upon A December

by aDORKable x3   Jul 8, 2007

As the snow fell that cold December night,
She sat up in bed, thinking about what was right.
"Is loving him the best thing that I could ever do,
Or is he helping me live the lie with each 'I Love You?'"

A blanket of snow lay on the once green landscape -
She wished that there was an easier way than to escape.
Fate seemed to be playing her and it seemed she'd lose;
Never would she have to the chance to even chose.

The bitter tears slid down her face as she fought the desire to cry.
Empty thoughts went through her head and she could only ask "Why?"
"Why could he do this with no regard to my feelings at all?
He PROMISED me he would catch me whenever I began to fall."

The lies he told her mounted until they out even the truth;
Her innocence had left her very early in her youth.
It's a shame that her fire for his desire became only an ember -
As he slowly broke her heart Once Upon A December.

    Awe! I was like..eh, this isn't so great...but I read those last two lines and almost cried. That part was perfect; beautiful!
    I can't get over those last two lines. They're perfect for the ending and fit perfectly. Nicely, nicely done.

    And by the way, I wanted to tell you I think you could be a really great poet. My suggestion is that you have cliche rhymes and one you get over that, you'll be wonder (not that you already aren't great..). =] I'm just here for suggestions. =]
