The River

by Amy   Jul 8, 2007

Pebbles shuffle under my feet,
The water trickles, soft and sweet.
The willow trees gently sway,
And whistle as the wind and leaves meet.

And so I sit in a bed of hay,
Admiring this view, day after day.
I listen to the birds sweetly sing,
And fall asleep, here I may.

The River is such a beautiful thing,
A place of harmony fit for a King.
Yet so forgotten and ignored it be,
People ignore the beauty, this river brings.

No families come here for a picnic tea,
They're all too busy watching T.V.
The River's only visitor is me,
Yet its true beauty, I do see.

This is a beautiful poem and really brings a feeling of peace and contentment just reading it. You have really captured a mood here. Too often we are caught up in the struggle of society and overlook the things that truly matter. Excellent poem.

    Peace, Poetry & Power,
