You just drove off
For the third time this week
Took the whole case of beer
Too tense to speak

It's always when
Your "wife" is sleeping
When your daughter is alone
Scared and weeping

She's too afraid to move
Out of her shell
Why would you put someone innocent
Through all of this Hell?

She hopes your car crashes
On the way back home
So she doesn't have to take this
She won't have to be alone

The news bulletin reads,
"Man is dead
After fatal car crash"
She lifts her head

Happy now that he's gone
The pain no longer seethes
Her father has left her
Now she can breathe
